Who We Are
Mission: Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Livingston County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners? monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving fund to build more houses. Livingston County Habitat for Humanity is locally funded and does not receive operating assistance from any other local, state or national organization. We are able to serve local residents only through the generosity from other local residents and businesses.
What We Do
Habitat has built more than 1 million houses around the world, providing more than 7 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. In Livingston County, LCHFH has built 18 homes as well as contributed to the work being done on 16 homes internationally.
