Who We Are

Mission: To deliver hospice, palliative and personal care across America with dignity, grace and empathy.

Heartland Hospice (formerly ProMedica) provides health care services to patients living with advanced illness and provide support to their families and friends. We help patients wherever they call home. Heartland Hospice serves Livingston County residents and the community. Heartland is part of Gentiva Health Services.

At Heartland Hospice, we understand the importance of time shared with family and friends, especially when facing the challenges of a life-limiting illness. Our clinicians are dedicated to offering the compassionate physical, spiritual and emotional care people need to make the most of these moments. We’re a team of caregivers that help clients age with grace and dignity, empowering them and their loved ones to share in a journey of kindness and support. It’s compassionate care that’s close to home, and close to the heart.

What We Do

Heartland (formerly ProMedica) volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, compassionate help to people nearing the end of life and those who support them. Volunteers help in numerous ways, such as:

  • Reading, talking to or providing a comforting touch for patients
  • Playing or singing soothing music to patients
  • Staying with patients so family members can rest
  • Keeping vigil with patients in their final hours
  • Helping with office support tasks at the agency

As a Heartland Hospice volunteer, you become a valuable part of our care team and play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those in our care. Your service magnifies what we do and makes a big difference for patients and families. You can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire. We work with you to find a geographic area or service that is uniquely suited to you.

At Heartland, we provide volunteers with a detailed orientation to the hospice program so they fully understand our caring philosophy and goals, and have the skills needed to assist patients and their families. We help patients in Livingston, Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, Lenawee, Monroe, Ingham and Jackson Counties in Michigan.
